Meet Heather Cox: Strategic Digital Direction for Businesses, Brands, and Creative Names
Meet Heather Cox: Fractional Social Media Director & Digital Strategist
I’m Heather Cox, a social media strategist and fractional social media director with nearly seventeen years of experience helping businesses, brands, executives, and creative professionals build a stronger digital presence.
Since 2010, I’ve worked across social media, content strategy, digital marketing, web design, SEO, and brand development. Today, much of my work focuses on stepping into companies as an experienced extension of their marketing team, providing social media leadership, strategic direction, content oversight, and hands-on support without the need for another full-time hire.
My approach has always been personal to the business or person behind the account. I look at who you are, who you’re trying to reach, what your internal resources already look like, and where social media fits into the bigger picture. From established companies and professional service firms to executives, artists, and creative brands, the strategy should fit the organization, not the other way around.
Awards and Public Speaking
My work has been recognized with Top Women in Business 2020 by Delaware Today and Delaware Business Times, as well as Most Influential Delawarean 2020 by Delaware Online and The News Journal.
I’ve spoken at TEDxDover and TEDxWilmington Women on women in business, equity, and the value of digital engagement. I also spoke at the Delaware Technical Community College Social Media Conference and continue to work in media and digital storytelling through DETV Channel 28’s Every Woman Network in Delaware.
Proven Experience Across Industries
Nearly seventeen years in social media and digital strategy has given me experience across industries, audiences, platforms, and very different types of organizations.
My client work has included brands and organizations such as Wolfe & Associates, Realcomm Events, Miss Delaware USA, Chesapeake Inn, The Birth Center of Delaware, and many others. Some clients need ongoing social media leadership. Others need strategy, content direction, event coverage, SEO, or a digital presence that finally reflects where their business has grown.
What stays consistent is the approach. I don’t apply the same strategy to every account. The work is built around the audience, goals, internal team, resources, and stage of growth of the organization I’m working with.
Professional Background
My educational background includes Hotel & Restaurant Management coursework through the University of Delaware, Office Administration through Delaware Technical Community College, and Advanced Social Media for Business through the University of Delaware’s Professional and Continuing Studies Program.
I’ve continued my education through Harvard University’s CS50 for Business Professionals, Digital Transformation Strategy from the University of Maryland, and Managing Marketing in the Hospitality and Tourism Industries from Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Social media changes constantly, so continuing to learn has always been part of the job.
Work With Heather Cox
I work with companies that need experienced social media leadership, but may not need another full-time director on staff. As a fractional social media director, I can step into an existing marketing structure to help lead strategy, guide content, improve workflows, oversee execution, analyze performance, and bring more direction to how social media supports the larger brand.
I also work directly with businesses, executives, artists, and creative professionals through social media strategy sessions, content creation, SEO, web design, and other digital projects.
